Globalization
On Friday, we talked about globalization. During this discussion, we had a conversation about how our culture was changing other nation's cultures. For instance, Mr. Schick showed us a picture of a Chinese restaurant/ eatery. The building architecture was unlike an american building, but the food in it was. There was both a McDonalds and a KFC in this eatery, but there was also a Chinese restaurant. Now, this doesn't seem like such a big cultural change; but it is. Because there is now America fast food restaurants in China, people have become a lot less healthy. They always used to eat healthy rice and fresh fish with vegetables. But now, they are eating things like processed chicken tenders and fried, greasy chicken. It is also ruining special family quality time. People always used to make dinner a special bonding time with there elders, to learn many new things and to talk about life. But now, families in China do not have that because people are just grabbing something to go at a fast food restaurant instead of eating at home. All of this is common for Americans, but not for China.
